Deleting your account

You can permanently delete your MoneyVue account and all of the data attached to it. The deletion is immediate and irreversible.

Before you delete

  • Export your data first if you want a copy. See Exporting your data.
  • Cancel your subscription through the billing portal so you're not charged for a period you won't use.

How to delete

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to the account section.
  3. Click Delete account.
  4. Confirm with your current password.

You must have a verified email before deletion is allowed. Verify your email first if you haven't already.

What gets deleted

Everything tied to your user record:

  • Accounts and account balances.
  • Transactions and their splits, notes, tags.
  • Budgets and budget history.
  • Categories and groups.
  • Recurring transactions.
  • Rules.
  • Merchants.
  • Sync logs.
  • Preferences and AI settings.
  • Refresh tokens and verification tokens.

The user row itself is removed last. After deletion, your email address can be used to register a new account.

What's NOT deleted

  • SimpleFIN data on SimpleFIN's side. MoneyVue cannot delete your SimpleFIN account or revoke their stored bank credentials. To fully detach, also delete your SimpleFIN account at beta-bridge.simplefin.org.
  • Stripe billing records. Past invoices remain in our payment processor's records for accounting and tax compliance, even after your MoneyVue account is gone.
  • Backups and logs retained for security and integrity reasons may include your data for up to 30 days.

GDPR and CCPA

This deletion satisfies GDPR Article 17 (right to erasure) and equivalent rights under CCPA. See GDPR and CCPA rights for more.

FAQ

Is there a grace period? No. Deletion is immediate. Export anything you want to keep first.

Can I delete just some of my data? Today the choice is all or nothing. To remove a single account, hide it instead.

Will my email get a confirmation? You'll see a success response in the app. Email confirmation may follow if email is configured.
