Splitting a transaction

Sometimes a single charge covers multiple categories — a Costco run that's part groceries, part fuel, part household. Splitting lets you assign each portion to its own category.

How to split

1. Click the transaction row to open the editor.
2. Click Split.
3. Add a row for each portion. The remaining amount auto-fills.
4. Save.

The original transaction stays intact in your account history; the split rows are virtual children that show in budget and spending reports.
